Director of Communications - Public Affairs - DC , Philly, or NYC based (position is remote) 150k -200k based on experience

 

Our client is bringing to market a new type of company whose equity captures the value of natural assets and the ecosystem services they produce. Natural Asset Companies (NACs) are fundamentally different than traditional companies because they are chartered to protect, restore, and grow the natural assets under their management to foster healthy ecosystems. They believe that investment in nature via NACs can create financial value for natural asset owners and investors, environmental and social impact, and power a transition to a truly sustainable economy.

 

The Director of Communications will be a key contributor to the development and execution of communication strategies, to advance our clients mission, with a focus on political affairs and public relations. This role requires a blend of strategic communication and political acumen to ensure messaging is clear and accessible.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Communication: Create and disseminate content, breaking down complex ideas into clear and accessible language. Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and coherent messaging across all platforms.

Political Affairs: Monitor political landscapes at local, regional, and national levels to identify opportunities and risks. Cultivate and maintain relationships with political stakeholders, legislators, and government officials.

Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate potential reputational risks.

Stakeholder Engagement: o Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including community leaders, advocacy groups, and industry partners. Organize and participate in meetings, forums, and events to enhance the organization's visibility and influence.

Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists. Prepare executives and spokespersons for media interactions and public appearances.

ATTRIBUTES: Strategic thinker with the ability to translate political insights into effective communication strategies. Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. Willingness to take on new challenges and learn quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Public Relations, or a related field. 7-10 years of experience in communications, political affairs, or a related role. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with political and community stakeholders. Familiarity with media relations and crisis communication.
