Well, here we are back at Phifer & Company, returned from our Memorial Day weekends and feeling relaxed and ready to work. We’re all looking forward to the summer, as we should be! Vacations and trips to the beach and pool are upon us, and who wouldn’t be thrilled about all of that. What’s more, this summer will be a bit different than past summers in terms of the job market.
Normally, we see natural lulls and peeks in the job market each year. Fall, with the start of school and back-to-work mentality, usually brings on a huge increase in hiring, while summer is generally slower due to both hirers and job seekers enjoying summer vacations. You’d expect this summer to be slow in hiring, then, especially because of the high unemployment rates we have seen in the past few years. Well, think again. According to the Quarterly Economic Survey (Economic Forecast: More jobs, faster growth) we’re about to see a pick-up in both the nation’s economy and the job market as business activity increases, predicted by economists who were surveyed by USA TODAY. These increases will more than offset federal government cutbacks. The economists predict that there will be average monthly job gains of 171, 000 and, moreover, the pace will quicken later this year.
So, what all you job-seekers out there should know is that the summer job market is looking strong. According to WWLP.com 22 News, reports say that the job market may be the strongest it’s been in six years! Experts say that this month and next will see a majority of the hiring. It’s time to jump on new job opportunities if you’re in the search, and jump on it FAST. We, here at Phifer & Co., are here to help in any way we can! J
XOXO, Recruiter Gal.
